Overview/Purpose

Join the PubWorx team of Distribution Specialists responsible for bringing some of the world’s premier magazines to market.  Excellent opportunity for motivated individual with or without publishing experience to learn how magazine products are distributed to subscribers, newsstands, and special events throughout the world. This Uptown Charlotte based position puts you at the center of the magazine production process ensuring that Production, Editorial, Advertising, Printers, and Logistics throughout the US and Europe work in unison to distribute PubWorX managed products cost effectively and in a reliable, timely fashion.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Newsstand Distribution
    • Interface with National Wholesalers to ensure smooth Galley transmission
    • Communicate regional edition assignments to printers, truckers and wholesalers
    • Troubleshoot problems that arise including late deliveries, overages, shortages and shipments that arrive damaged
  • Subscriber Distribution
    • Ensure adherence to Production Schedules designed to deliver magazines to coincide with magazine newsstand on-sale date
    • Facilitate communication between Printer’s Service Representatives and PubWorX book make-up staff regarding magazine make-up and distribution plans
    • Confirm that Postage funds required to mail magazines are in place before the start of mailing
    • Track and confirm all main file and supplemental mailings for each issue
  • Office Copy and Special Order Distribution
    • Keep an accurate up-to-date office copy house list for 5 to 10 magazine titles based on information provided by Editorial and Advertising Sales staffs
    • Coordinate special and bulk order distribution plans for special events, exhibits, etc.
  • Distribution and Postage Administration
    • Maintain Postal tracking checklists for 5 to 10 titles to ensure that every magazine printed is distributed, and that every copy distributed in the mail is paid for accurately
    • Monitor postage balances in Postal accounts and replenish as scheduled
    • Participate in annual Production Schedule release focusing on the timing of Distribution events

 

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • We will train an interested individual with a high school degree in this position
  • Office experience, or experience in publishing, is a plus but not required
  • We are a service department so a customer service oriented personality is required
  • Clear communication skills are necessary
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools specifically Excel and Word
  • Specialists work as a team with specific product responsibility – reliability, openness to pitching in as needed and flexibility are highly valued
